I was a student of paintings and drawings at Harding Studio in Shanghai when I was young.  I studied paintings under the late Roy Kiyooka and sculpture under Orson Wheeler at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) in Montreal.  Both of them were accomplished artists and their works were collected at various esteemed art galleries and museums.  However, my career was in educational technology and computer related fields (hardware, software and Internet).  After retiring from the high tech fields, I started painting again.  I would like to share my experience and work with those who are interested.  This is why I started this website.

    About

Ted Feng's artistic journey began in childhood, when he studied painting and drawing at Harding Studio in Shanghai under one of China's esteemed "100 Famous Painters." His passion for art deepened in Canada, where he trained under Roy Kiyooka, a pioneer in conceptual art, and Orson Wheeler, a distinguished sculptor whose works are held in major institutions, including the Tate Gallery in London.

Although deeply connected to art from a young age, Ted's career in education and the high-tech industry led him to set aside his artistic pursuits for decades. However, in retirement, he has reignited his passion, creating over 100 works and continually challenging himself by exploring new styles and modalities, including transitioning from watercolor to oil painting.  He has participated in exhibitions in Montreal and the Bay Area.  One of his works is selected to be exhibited at the Pacific Art League in April, 2025.

His work is shaped by a lifetime of global experiences, having lived and worked in Hong Kong, Montreal, Brussels, Honolulu, Beijing, and the Bay Area. Ted has visited many of the world's most renowned museums and galleries, drawing inspiration from the evocative intimacy of Rembrandt's portraits, the luminous beauty of Manet's floral studies, and the emotional depth of Michelangelo's Piet .

Beyond his personal practice, Ted is committed to sharing his love of art through teaching. He has taught drawing to children in Hong Kong, led watercolor workshops for adults in Montreal, and is to be an instructor at Avenidas in Palo Alto.

For Ted, painting is more than a creative pursuit-it is a way to capture meaning from the world around him and to leave a lasting legacy. His evolving body of work reflects both a reverence for tradition and openness to new artistic challenges, ensuring that his passion for art endures through the pieces he creates.
